Martin Fontana, a resident of Polk County, has been a member of the Central Florida Accordion Club (CFAC) for about
two years, and he became interested in forming a chapter in Polk County about a year ago because he “wanted people to
jam with in his area and have some fun.”
In November 2006, he organized the first "get together" with about thirty people attending at the VFW in Lake Wales--
ten of those attendees were already members of CFAC. The News Chief, Polk County’s local paper, wrote an article
about Martin wanting to start a chapter of CFAC in Polk County and included a photograph. Response to that article
was awesome!
For the next several months, on the second Sunday, “get togethers” encouraged enough people to join CFAC, and on
March 11, 2007, Polk County was officially named CFAC’s second chapter, with Martin being appointed as its director.
Congratulations, Martin and Polk County!!
