| John Gaunt was born in New Jersey and started taking accordion lessons when he was 8. His uncle gave him a 12 bass accordion and taught him a song. John enjoyed this experience so much that he asked his parents for lessons. He moved to Florida with his parents and sister in 1957. At that time he was a bank teller. After 5 years he went to work for Florida Power. He was the guy responible for making the list of who would be cut off the next day for not paying their electric bill. After 5 years of this he decided to try sales and went to work in advertising for the St. Petersburg Times. During this time he was awarded SALESMAN OF THE YEAR twice. He did the unheard of thing of selling over One Million dollars worth of classified advertising in one year. He retired after 15 years and opened his accordion store in 1984. John says "Now I work many more hours, have less vacation time, make less money and have never been happier. I don't think I'll EVER retire." What keeps John young is SWING DANCING with Jan, his girlfriend since 1991. We've NEVER had an argument in all this time. That's because we don't live together and don't want to. |
